I can relate to Kermit the Frog saying, “It’s not easy being green.” Recently, I have been struggling to stay motivated and write blog posts to motivate others to be green. With everything going on in the world these days, it seems so challenging to act and make a positive difference in the world. Thankfully, I got a shot of motivation from the Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame) concert our family attended. I loved when they added a new verse to Down by the Riverside singing “Stop all that poison of fracking down by the riverside.” That got me thinking about what other songs motivate people to live sustainably.
Here are a couple of our favorite environmental action songs:
- R-E-C-Y-C-L-E by Tom Chapin
- Garden Song by Pete Seeger sung by Peter, Paul and Mary
- The Flower That Shattered The Stone by John Denver
- This Land is Your Land by Pete Seeger

I don’t know of any but now I want to find some!
I have never thought of this! I will have to think about it…I am sure there is something! 🙂
I’ve never thought about music that inspires me to be green, but it’s a great concept! I should turn on more music while I’m making my household cleaners. Actually, I think of any music from Dead Poetic or other bands that used to play at Cornerstone during my teenage wannabe hippie days. 🙂
