Are you looking for something beautiful, recycled, eco-minded and inspiring? If you are, then you’ve found the right place, Solar Panel Jewelry.
Sterling Silver Solar Panel Earrings
handcrafted by Jonathan Hunt |
I (Jonathan) have started crafting jewelry from fragments of solar panels. Actually, I am taking pieces of photovoltaic (PV) wafers (aka solar cells) that were either damaged or for some reason unsuitable for use in a solar panel and turning them into small pieces of art.
Each piece is unique and handcrafted by me. I am selling online through Etsy. If you have a particular request for an item you don’t see available in the store, contact me at ecodad@greenlifestyleconsulting.com and I hopefully can craft it for you.
The standard items I am making are:

I am trying to engineer some pieces where the solar panels would actually charge a small capacitor which would in turn flash a couple small LEDs. If you have any ideas or want to help with the design, let me know. I have to squeeze in the circuit design along with the jewelry making into the gaps between raising three wonderful (but very active) kids, so it is taking a while.
Maybe some day I will be able to embed some LEDs and a small circuit to add that extra eye catching glow, but for now the jewelry will charge the imagination and spark conversations.
Happy Greening!
Jon
I used to have a solor powred necklace that was supposed to help with melatonin production as well as reduce pain….It was to be worn at nite and it did help! My dog chew it up; have you ever heard of such a product? It was sold in AZ at a craft type of a fair….
Hi Terri,
No, my necklaces only power the imagination and inspire conversations for now.
